July 22 2021 Hello SPMABC Members,

As you will all have heard, the Ministry of Environment has issued a ban on all anti-coagulant rodenticides for all of British Columbia. This ban is effective as of July 21st 2021, and will be in place for 18 months, until January 2023.

The SPMABC board is fully appreciative of the effect that this will have on our members and the industry as a whole. As such, we’d like to reassure our members that we are already in talks with the Ministry of Environment to dispute these bans, making arguments for the necessity of these baits for successful integrated pest management for our customers.

Please review the attachments on this email, which include the SPMABC statement to our members, as well as the documentation from the Ministry of Environment regarding these regulation changes.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.

May 5 2021 The Vancouver Rat Project (who will often send a speaker for our SPMABC conferences), has asked for our support in their COVID-19 19 Rodent research.

The project explores how the P1 COVID-19 variant has effect rodent populations, and involves testing rodent carcasses that are trapped (not baited). They are offering payment for collection of these rodents.

If you’d like to participate by donating trapped rodents, please consult the flyer for further information.

We wanted to advise our members that the page on our website that allows members to access their detailed recertification points report is currently down.

Because we will be migrating to a new system in the coming months, we won’t be able to repair this system, so in the interim, we would ask that you email any points inquiries to this email address (info@spmabc.com) and we can manually pull your points report and email it to you.

Please be advised that it does take longer to pull these reports manually, so we would advise any members to contact us in plenty of time prior to your expiry date to ensure you have adequate credits in time for your renewal.

We cannot guarantee an immediate response to a request for a points report, due to the numbers of inquiries that are being sent to us.

We hope for your understanding and patience as we move towards our new points database.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions about this.
